As you can tell, the Desert Intarsia website has been revamped, redesigned, and completely remastered. It has been optimized to accurately show the beauty of the craftsmanship of our products and the incredible skill and value that goes into each piece.Desert Intarsia Gallery was founded in 2007 by Brian and Stacey Maggard with the dream of introducing a little known Italian art form called Intarsia to the Jewelry Market with a unique spin that they both find, design and create their products. Brian and Stacey gather semiprecious stones in the local New Mexico desert and other locations in the SouthWest, combining their found stones with other worldwide gemstones they are then carefully cut and fashioned into Intarsia by Brian a self taught lapidary and Jeweler. Brian has been hunting and cutting stones since he was a small boy in California. The thrill of the hunt coupled by a natural talent for being able to visualize a final product from rocks lying on the desert floor have become his passion. His unique talent has been recognized on a national and international level by Art Jewelry magazine who have featured his work several times in their gallery section. In Spring 2010 a three page article will be published written by Brian and Stacey on how Brian creates his Intarsia Jewelry. Brian’s work can also be seen on the American Masters of Stone Website. Stacey a native New Englander became caught up in the hunt for rocks when introduced to the pastime by Brian, a full-time clinical therapist she makes and designs jewelry, recently both were recognized for a joint necklace that appeared in Bead World online.
